Barry Anderson now owns the Tabs 4.0 EO featured in the Freshwater Fishing magazine article. Barry is an expert cod fisherman, well known for his fishing videos (Cod Almighty).

This is an extract from an email from Barry:

‘’I thought I should let you know that since purchasing the twin Torqeedo-powered Tabs EO [electric only] boat, I have never enjoyed my fishing more. I live in Canberra with all the local lakes being electric-powered boats only. One of the best fishing lakes is Googong Dam which is one of the water supply dams for the A.C.T.
It is restricted to fishing between 8am & 8pm. Because of these restrictions my boat gives me an incredible advantage over all the other electric boats I have seen using the lake. There is only one boat ramp near the dam wall. To reach the other end of the dam takes the average electric boat many hours. While my [ferrari] electric boat can cover the same distance in 15 to 20 minutes. Allowing me to fish remote parts of the dam earlier and later in the day than any other fisherman. I can also spend a lot more time actually fishing and less time travelling from A to B. Resulting in more fish caught and heaps more fun.”

Following is what Chris says on his blog about this graph :
“Here’s some results from the Torqeedo speed tests done just before hauling her out. These results are wind and tide effected but include readings taken in both directions and I’m hoping they would balance. The curve fitting is done by the charting software and I’ve chosen the exponential regression option because I think it should be an exponential shape. That is, as speed increases the power required increases by an exponential amount. It looks about right to me.”

What a Show! Five full days of presenting the outboards to thousands of people it seemed - we lost count...

Thank you to the Sydney “team”; Steven from Ecoboats helping on the Torqeedo booth, Max from Goldrush showing off the Aggressor and Bob from All Inflatables displaying the Torqeedo on a few of his craft. On the marina, Don and Philip West from Sheerline Marine Services were showing the Travel 801 on the Adams !0 .
Finally Ben, the first customer from All Inflatables, who spent the rest of the show demonstrating the folding characteristics of his Travel 801 (He holds the record for the fastest assembly!)

Goodtime is organizing a day of Torqeedo demos on the beach at Redcliffe. This would be a great opportunity to see the whole range in action! Details below from the Goodtime website:
“We'll be at the beach between Clontarf and Woody Point near Redcliffe. The car park is located at the intersection between Hornibrook Esplanade and Maine Road. Just turn in at the traffic lights and find a park. We'll be there! If you aren't sure you're at the right intersection, look out for the jet ski shop on the corner. If you are heading East along Hornibrooke Esp, turn right at the lights when you see the jet ski shop on the left. If you are heading West, turn left at the lights.”

Sydney Boat Show

Following the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, we will again be showing the whole Torqeedo range of outboards. This will be the first time that all of the engines will be displayed in Sydney.

First Cruise 4.0 going in the multihull Current Sunshine

Current Sunshine is now equipped with a Cruise 4.0, giving a maximum speed of close to 7 knots, but more importantly a cruising speed of 4.5 knots at 1500W. At that speed Current Sunshine is able to motor for 5-6 hours.

What is most interesting about this installation is the fact that battery-outboard weight is now less than the previous petrol-outboard weight. Further, Current Sunshine is equipped with 500W of solar panels which gives Chris a few hours of free motoring every day. No need to carry petrol on board anymore.

Gold rush aggressor electric blue at 21.1 km/h

Today was the launching and first testing of the new Aggressor from Gold Rush Power Boats

The boat is beautifully-built in infused foam sandwich, which gives a great weight of about 150 kg for the hull (without batteries and outboards). The two Cruise 4.0 R weigh 16.5 kg each. The batteries are supplied by Optima (D31) and weigh 27.5 kg each. We used four of them.
